Kristi Yamaguchi to visit commissaries in Hawaii

McCLELLAN, Calif. – World renowned ice skater Kristi Yamaguchi will visit commissaries in Hawaii on Aug. 8 and 9 to sign autographs and meet with shoppers.

Monday, Aug. 8, Yamaguchi will visit the Hickam Air Force Base commissary from
9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and the Pearl Harbor commissary from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, she will visit the Kaneohe Bay commissary from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and the Schofield Barracks commissary from 3-6 p.m.

A major star in the world of figure skating, Yamaguchi’s career is marked by numerous major championship titles and critically acclaimed performances. She won the World Championships singles title in 1991 and 1992, and an Olympic Gold Medal in 1992. After retiring her amateur status, she toured for 10 years with “Stars on Ice.”

In 1996, Yamaguchi established the Always Dream Foundation whose mission is to encourage, support and embrace the hopes and dreams of children. The foundation supports organizations in California, Nevada and Hawaii that are dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of children.

The Aloha Shoyu Company is a corporate sponsor of the Always Dream Foundation and is sponsoring Yamaguchi’s visit to military commissaries. Customers who purchase any Aloha Shoyu product during the skater’s visit will receive a free autographed picture or customers may bring one item of their own for Yamaguchi to sign.

The Defense Commissary Agency operates a worldwide chain of commissaries providing groceries to military personnel, retirees and their families in a safe and secure shopping environment. Authorized patrons purchase items at cost plus a 5-percent surcharge, which covers the costs of building new commissaries and modernizing existing ones. Shoppers save an average of 30 percent or more on their purchases compared to commercial prices – savings worth about $2,700 annually for a family of four. A core military family support element, and a valued part of military pay and benefits, commissaries contribute to family readiness, enhance the quality of life for America’s military and their families, and help recruit and retain the best and brightest men and women to serve their country.

Kristi Yamaguchi & Aloha Shoyu Company Partner to “Reach for the GOLD”

Kristi Yamaguchi with Aloha Shoyu’s newest product, “Aloha Gold”.Aloha Shoyu Company has signed Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi to promote the soon to be launched, new product called, “Aloha GOLD” Soy Sauce. Yamaguchi will appear in television and print ads featuring the new Soy Sauce as well as make personal appearances to promote the product.

“Aloha Gold” soy sauce retains many of the attributes that fans of the original Aloha Shoyu soy sauce know and love, the simple, soft taste, but with a slightly bolder flavor that makes it ideal for use as a condiment as well as a cooking ingredient. It’s great with sushi, roasted vegetables, or as a dipping sauce for meats, chicken, and anything eaten with soy sauce.

Brian Tanigawa, President of Aloha Shoyu Company states, “Aloha Gold is a product that we feel will help us to enter the traditional Asian cuisine market, yet it’s unique in its flavor to provide the diversity of a dipping sauce as well as a cooking base for many different cuisines.”

Olympic Gold Medalist Kristi Yamaguchi receives a donation from Brian Tanigawa, President of Aloha Shoyu Company for her Always Dream Foundation. Partial proceeds from the sales of Aloha Gold will be donated to Kristi Yamaguchi’s Always Dream Foundation, a program started by Yamaguchi eight years ago, whose goal is to support organizations that have a positive influence on children. The Foundation strives to find innovative ways to provide funding for a diverse range of programs designed to inspire and embrace the hopes and dreams of children. Locally, Kristi’s Foundation has supported several organizations, most recently, sponsoring a four-day camp on the North side of Oahu, providing a once-in-a lifetime outdoor experience for children with disabilities. For more information on Kristi’s foundation or to make a donation visit: www.alwaysdream.org
